What is the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies (CUNY BA)?
CUNY Baccalaureate (CUNY BA) has been around for over 50 years!

CUNY BA is an interdisciplinary studies program within the CUNY system. Students choose courses from different CUNY departments and campuses to earn a bachelor’s degree. Attend the info session to learn more about the process.

CUNY BA is for students who want to design a bachelor’s degree (Area of Concentration|AOC) that is not already offered in CUNY (minimum 120 credits). As part of the CUNY BA application, students propose what they want to study and what CUNY courses they think are suitable for the bachelor’s degree they are creating (it’s a first draft).

At the CUNY BA information session, you will get an overview of the program, including:
~ Benefits of the CUNY BA program
~ How CUNY BA works and the application process
~ Tips on finding CUNY courses for your Area of Concentration (AOC; CUNY BA’s version of a major)
~ Students propose what they want to study in the CUNY BA Application (Name and list of courses)
~ The Role of the CUNY BA Faculty Mentor
~ Question and answer session at the end

Create Unique Degrees Like:
~ Game Production
~ New Content Creation and Entrepreneurship
~ Health and Exercise Science
~ Financial Technology

DESIGN A UNIQUE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:

CUNY BA is pleased to announce its Fall 2025 call for proposals for microgrants of up to $3,000. These grants support CUNY BA students in launching youth-led, youth-driven community service projects.

At CUNY BA, you design your own unique academic path; now, we invite you to design a unique service project that applies your academic interests to real-world challenges.

We define “service” broadly to encourage you to explore the connection between your academic focus in your Area(s) of Concentration, your distinctive skill sets, and the real-world problems to create positive change.

You may consider addressing critical community needs identified by the CUNY University Faculty Senate, such as transportation access (e.g., advocating for free MetroCards), food insecurity, or housing insecurity.

Whether it’s direct volunteerism, civic engagement, a skill-based activity, or a social entrepreneurship effort, your project can be as unique as your major.
