The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a student-run organization within the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies program that aims to strengthen the voices of all CUNY BA students and contribute to the CUNY BA community.
Last semester, the SLC focused primarily on planning events for students to help bring the community closer together. Some of our achievements included hosting Focus Hours for students to study and work alongside one another, Social Hours for students to play games and get to know each other better, and co-hosting CUNY BA’s 50th Anniversary Networking Event. We are very thankful to everyone who participated and made each of these events memorable.
This semester, the SLC will continue to strengthen the CUNY BA community while also focusing on making resources more accessible for students. This will include:
- Planning a student and alumni event focused on career-building
- Improving the structure and usage of the CUNY BA Community Site on Blackboard
- Sharing information about interdisciplinary offerings at CUNY
- Increasing awareness of the CUNY BA program through faculty mentors
Our goal is to pass on our knowledge as senior CUNY BA students to future cohorts. To accomplish these initiatives, we will be working closely with the CUNY BA Fellows and staff and providing feedback on existing student resources.
Joining the SLC is a great opportunity for those who are looking to develop their leadership skills and make a positive change. For those who are looking to take on a formal role, we will be recruiting for our 2022-2023 Executive Board in April. If you are interested in the e-board positions or joining us as a general member, email us at slc.cunyba@gmail.com.
We also encourage you to join our weekly meetings which occur every Wednesday, from 1-2 PM EST. Please email slc.cunyba@gmail.com for the Zoom link. For those unable to attend the meetings, don’t worry! Reach out to us and we will make sure that you are involved in other ways. We are looking forward to meeting you and wish everyone a wonderful semester!
Warmly,
Your SLC
