How to Apply

Because the major that you are applying for doesn't exist at your college, a critical component of your application is the Area of Concentration (AoC). Your AoC is the cornerstone of the CUNY BA degree, so it's important that you craft a strong proposal in your application. You can learn more about proposing your Area of Concentration and choosing courses for your AOC proposal for it here: Proposing Your Area.

The application to the CUNY BA program is separate from your application to a CUNY home
college. To apply to the CUNY BA program, you need to submit:

- A proposed Area of Concentration(s): This includes the title you give to your unique
degree
- A course sample for your Area of Concentration(s): These are the 6 to 8 courses you
propose to be the core of your concentration
- A personal statement: explaining your educational path and outlining why you want to
design your own degree in the CUNY BA program
- Official transcripts of any non-CUNY institutions or exams not already submitted to the
University Application Processing Center (UAPC)

You generally do not need to submit any CUNY transcripts unless you attended CUNY more
than ten years ago.
