Eligibility for Graduation

To attend the commencement ceremony, you have to be part of one of these (potential) graduating classes:

• September 2024 graduate
• January 2025 graduate
• Potential June 2025 graduate
• Potential September 2025 graduate

If you fall into one of these categories, then you are eligible to participate in CUNY BA’s 2025 Commencement Ceremony. If you are unsure about whether or not you qualify for graduation, be sure to meet with your academic advisor ASAP and go over graduation requirements. Students must have completed a graduation audit in order to be eligible.

The final deadline to file for a June 2025 degree is March 1, 2025. The deadline to file for a September 2025 degree is May 1, 2025.

• Commencement Awards - due by Wednesday April 30
• Updates and Achievements Form - due by Wednesday April 30
• Senior Class Commencement Speaker - due by Friday April 11 (must have registered for commencement)

Let Us Brag About You!

One of the many things that makes our commencement ceremony extraordinary is the opportunity we have to recognize each graduate; each will come to the stage to receive the letter of congratulations. In reading the names of the graduates, some of the honors and awards you have earned will be mentioned. In order to do so, we need to know what your honors are (from CUNY and beyond). We would also like to know who has been accepted to graduate school already and who has received raises, promotions or new employment opportunities as a result of earning their baccalaureate degree. Our Academic Director, Jody Clark Vaisman, will use some specific examples in her commencement remarks. Please complete the Updates and Achievements Form by Wednesday April 30.

Commencement Attire

• Mandatory: It is mandatory to wear an all-black cap and gown with the CUNY BA stole and tassel to participate in the ceremony. This year we are launching a unique custom stole in royal blue!
• If you have a black cap and black gown for your home college’s ceremony, you may use it for our ceremony and only order the CUNY BA custom stole and tassel.
• How to Order Regalia: After registering for the ceremony, you will be redirected to the designated regalia vendor website. In the search box, type CUNY BA. You will purchase your regalia directly from the vendor and it will be shipped to the address you provide to the vendor.
• Deadline: It is your responsibility to order your regalia before the vendor's deadline of May 10 to be able to receive it on time for the CUNY BA commencement ceremony. You may order your regalia earlier to use the cap, gown, and stole at your home campus ceremony.

Commencement Registration

All students wishing to participate in the commencement ceremony must complete the 2025 Commencement Ceremony online form to register for the ceremony and register their guests. We anticipate being able to accommodate up to 5 guests per graduate in the main auditorium and will have an on-site overflow room with a livestream. We are broadcasting the event live for guests who cannot attend in-person.

Venue Entry Procedures

Our ceremony takes places at The Graduate Center, CUNY. We closely follow The Graduate Center's Building Entry Policy.
