Casey Berner Portrait
Casey Berner is a Brooklyn-based theatre scholar, artist, and administrator. She is a PhD Candidate in Theatre and Performance at the Graduate Center, CUNY, where she is a CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Individual Studies Fellow. She also teaches at Brooklyn College and Baruch College, and freelances in grantwriting and fundraising strategy. Casey has worked professionally as a producer, stage manager, dramaturg, and costume technician in addition to her administrative and scholarly work. Her research focuses on historiography of commercial musical theatre, particularly musicals with short runs. Her work has been published in Episodes and Casting the Art of Rhetoric with Theatre and Drama: Taking Center Stage. She has presented papers at Song, Stage, and Screen; the American Society for Theatre Research; the National Communication Association; Philadelphia Theatre Research Symposium; and the Kenneth Burke Society.
